We owe a great deal of thanks to Tracy McNeela, Manager at Putney Leisure Centre (PLC), Wandsworth Swimming Club (WSC), Wandsworth Borough Council and of course our head coach Melinda Matyas for nurturing the diving programme at Putney to the point where we could establish a viable diving club for South West London.
South West London Diving club (SWLD), has grown four fold in the last year. Currently divers range from 6-17 years old, training 1, 2, 3 and 4 times a week. We work in conjunction with Putney Leisure Centre and use their facilities in London Borough of Wandsworth, South West London. The diving pit has 1 metre and 3 metre springboards and a 5m platform and basic dryland equipment.
We enjoy a close working relationship with Dive London, the regional Talent Development Centre, which means we also dive and dryland train from time to time at the London Aquatics Centre in Stratford.
Our divers are working up the British Diving Pathway and we are looking to expand both the wet and dry training programme to support our divers become their confident best. Furthermore development of our coaching team is important to us with support and guidance being provided for our coaches to fulfil their own potential and ambitions.
Our aim is to foster high calibre divers and coaches in South West London within a friendly, fun and team focused club environment.
